LEARNING FROM ONLINE KNOWLEDGE
There is no reason to wait:
Our opportunity is to end the isolation of any kid on the planet from what is known and, in fact, to put them all virtually on the same page!

The flow of what is known by humankind on to the Internet has provided a totally new opportunity to link children and learners of all ages to study subjects. The Internet contains free and stunning learning resources from dictionaries and basic math tables to the full spectrum of classics, technology, and the fundamentals and latest research in the sciences and technology.

Enter a Jumpstart Pavilion

The Jumpstart Project
This start-up activity introduces the knowledge now available from the Internet to students in specific countries or cultures.

What is a Pavilion?
A Jumpstart Pavilion is a locale-specific webpage linking out to locale-relevent sources on the Internet such as reading materials, language dictionaries and grammars, writing guides, math, geography, science, history, technology, and museums. Each pavilion also leads into the 2003 Showcase of Useful Knowledge where a broad spectrum of general study subjects are used in a commons shared by students entering from all of the pavilions.

The word pavilion comes from the Latin and French words for butterfly, catching the idea of spreading out like a butterfly's wings [Webster's 1966 unabridged]. A jumpstart project enters the Internet virtually and spreads its wings over perninent knowledge to those learners for whom it is maintained.
